Love of mine, some day you will die
But I'll be close behind
I'll follow you into the dark
A hand pressed itself against smooth, transparent stone, tracing the lines and grooves of the crystal. (e/c) eyes looked up, looking for the face they had known for so long.
"Annie" You whispered, your voice so small and soft, it sounded like a gentle breeze.
The blonde had her eyes closed in sleep, arms at her sides as her body was frozen, trapped in the crystal that surrounded her. If you didn't know any better, you'd think she was simply dreaming, thoughts wandering blissfully in the world of slumber.
But you knew she was trapped in a world of nightmares.
No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white
Just our hands clasped so tight
Waiting for the hint of a spark
Your eyes closed too, hand still placed flat against the crystal. The silence of the underground catacombs was deafening, making your heartbeat pound in your ears so loudly you thought your head was going to burst. Yet the silence was oddly familiar, something you had encountered long ago.
It was often silence between you two; Annie unwilling to speak and you, not knowing what to say. Most of the time when she did speak, it was words such as "Go away", "Don't bother" or some equivalent thereof.
Little did she know that you saw the loneliness in her eyes.
If Heaven and Hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the "No"'s on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
Annie had done her best to avoid your company since day one, but you didn't let that deter you. You were glued to her side, a constant companion, much to her dismay.
"Why do you always follow me?" She snapped one day, whirling to face you.
You simply smiled, a gesture that for a split second broke through her defenses.
"I want to be with you" You murmured softly, plain and simple. "You look like you need a friend."
You didn't see the falter in Annie's expression, the pain that crossed across her face. However, you did hear as she spoke, her words careful and measured.
"It'd be better if you stayed away from me."
In Catholic school as vicious as Roman rule
I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black
And I held my tongue as she told me,
"Son, fear is the heart of love."
So I never went back
You tilted your head at her words, a nervous smile crossing your face. "Why?" You asked, and Annie felt her defenses crumbling.
Part of her wanted you to listen, to retreat and never return, and yet...She spat out the words before she could stop herself.
"You'll just get hurt"
It was a pause, lasting for only a few moments but feeling like an eon to you both.
At last, the words breezed from your lips. "I don't care."
Annie flinched, and suddenly the walls came crashing down around her.

"You don't want to do this" She whispered in the darkness.
Fingers intertwined, bodies pressed close together, you replied in a murmur: "Annie..."
The blonde stiffened, feeling the familiar emotion swell in her chest everytime you whispered her name.
"Annie, I don't understand."
"And you shouldn't." She replied softly. "I don't want you to know."
"I don't want you to know the monster that I truly am"
You and me have seen everything to see
From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
"But Annie, why?"
The blonde couldn;t help but feel guilt rise in her chest at the raw emotion in your voice as you stared up at her from your knees.
"I'm sorry (Name)" She spoke softly, her bangs hiding her face from your vision, along with her swelling tears. "I can't let you get involved in this horrible mess"
"What mess? Annie, what are you talking about?" You cried desperately. "Annie, you can trust me, you can tell me!"
"I can't" Annie choked. "I wish I could."
With that she turned, disappearing beyond the bonfires and leaving you alone, arms clinging to your body.
"You'll see soon enough, the monster I am inside."
You didn't know what she meant until the Female Titan destroyed Levi's squad and the right flank of the expedition beyond the walls.
It's nothing to cry about
'Cause we'll hold each other soon
In the blackest of rooms
"Annie..." you whispered again, feeling tears swell in your eyes.
Yet you smiled, even as they spilled down your cheeks. Your hand curled into a fist against the crystal, the other coming to rest flat, splayed across the surface.
"I made a promise to you long ago."
You wanted nothing more to touch her, one last time. You wanted to hold her hand in yours again, stare into her blue eyes...
So you pressed your forehead agaisnt the crystal, as if you were pressing your forehead to hers.
"I promised you, and I tried to keep that promise."
Swallowing the lump in your throat, you continued.
"That I would follow you."
You knew she could hear you, you just wished she could feel you.
"I would follow you to the ends of the earth if I had to, if that's where you strayed...I will follow you because I love you Annie, even if you are the monster you claim you are."
You closed your eyes, allowing the wetness to spill from your eyes.
"So I'll chase after you, I'll continue after you..."

Where I Can't Follow [Annie x Reader]
"Hey, I wish you would answer me, Annie," you frowned. You sat down in front of her and glared. "You never explain anything to me anymore and it really does suck,"
"I really do wish you would come back, you know," you said quietly. "I wish you told me about being the female titan earlier. I wouldn't have hated you, you know. I would never hate you. Reiner and Bertholdt are kind of shaken up about it too, but they seem to be more accepting of it. I'm not mad 'cause your the female titan, I'm more mad that you couldn't trust me enough to tell me,"
Annie didn't reply, and you fu

Rise and Shine [Annie/You] [One-shot]
You swallowed thickly. How did this happen? You needed to get up soon before you missed breakfast... again.
You peered down at the arm that was securely wrapped around your waist, somehow during the course of the night, your blanket had gotten tangled up with your bed mates. You found yourself prisoner in one of Annie's famous blanket cocoons.
You stomach rumbled, "Annie...," your voice was barely above a whisper. It was no secret among the girls of the 104th that Annie was no morning person. "Annie," you tried calling her name again, louder this time. You slowly began to pull yourself away from the smaller body only to be forcefully pulled

It had to be done. Everything had been going to plan until the meddling Commander Erwin stepped in.
You and Annie had it all worked out and then came Eren, suddenly a titan shifter. At first glance, you thought you might be able to get Eren to join you. But then it become clear who's side he was on. You would have preferred him to be taken by the military police instead of the survey corps because it was a hitch in your plan.
But you and Annie worked around it. Two titan shifters who'd found each other, finishing the business started before you. You were both there in Trost, shifting into your forms to complete a mis
