It was raining.

Cassie hated the rain. It reminded her of her home, Vanaheim, which in turn only continued to remind her of her family. She could still see her mother, sad and heartbroken after her husband left her. She only remembered a glimpse of her Father's face, handsome but mysterious, a person she would never know. It reminded her of the crumbling family she came from, which in turn only turned her thoughts sad.

She hated the rain.

The Vanaheimian sighed with irritation, closing the book she was reading and reaching for her umbrella. There went her peaceful day in the park. Flipping her hair over one shoulder, she pulled the hood to her jacket up and opened her umbrella, managing to block only a portion of the rain. Under normal circumstances, she would just cast a shield over her head, blocking the precipitation. But these weren't normal circumstances. After all, Midgardians weren't used to magic.

It wasn't her idea to leave her home world, no, it was her mother's. "Go out and explore the realms!" he mother encouraged her. "See new places, meet new people, explore new things."

Cassie could hardly say no to her mother, so she packed her things and the next thing she knew, she was on Midgard; amoungst unfamiliar things and faces that all looked the same.

The Vanahiemian moved from her spot on the bench, removing herself from unwanted memories and thoughts. Instead, she looked from her seat, watching as people wandered by, unaware of the blue pair of eyes watching them.

Just when Cassie thought that there was nothing interesting to see, she found her eyes drawn to a certain man, walking ever so slowly, his eyes narrowed in a silent sneer at the mortals who passed by him. His raven black hair feathered and fell to his shoulders, brushing them ever so slightly as he walked. He also carried an umbrella, holding in over his shoulder at an angle that occasionally a drop of water would land on his face, which would contort in disdain.

Cassie knew at once he was not a midgardian. He carried himself too high, he looked down on those around him too much. He walked with the command of a noble, one who knew his place above others.

Yet Cassie had to wonder: Why was he here?

Silently, gracefully, she moved from her bench, making sure to follow the strange man at a distance so as not to notice her. She watched him curiously, trying to match her steps to his, and often failing.

He rounded a corner, and Cassie expected him to be just a few feet in front of her, only to find him absent. her brow creased in puzzlement, and she turned, only to find a broad chest in front of her. She yelped, and lost her balance, falling squarely on her bum, her umbrella falling beside her.

Before she could shout a cry of indignation, a voice pierced her thoughts.

"May I inquire as to the reason of your pursuit?"

Cassie looked up, into the curious face of the man she saw earlier. The girl found herself blushing, despite the cool around her. "Y-you aren't from here, are you?" She blurted out, then scolded herself for being so blunt.

The man's eyebrows arched in surprise, and Cassie couldn't help but smile at his expression.

"In what way?" He replied, offering her a hand to get up. Cassie reached for it, hesitating for a moment, then grasping it firmly. At the touch, a shock seemed to race through her, sending a trill up her spine. She found herself breathless, her heart racing.

upon being hauled to her feet, she lost her balance again, stumbling into his chest. They stayed like that for a moment, looking at each other in surprise, trying to decipher the meaning in each other's eyes.

His stare was so intense it made her skin burn. She was forced to look away from those peircing eyes of his.

"It seems...you are not of this realm, either." He spoke softly, with a hint of hesitation.

Cassie looked up with surprise. "A-and how did you come to that conclusion?" She stammered.

"I can sense these things about others from different realms." he chuckled, his eyes squinting from his smile. "I am Asgardian, after all."

Cassie couldn't help but smile a bit. So her suspicions were correct after all. "Well that makes two of us, then." she laughed nervously. "Though I am from Vanaheim, not Asgard."

"Well, then is my pleasure, for you are the first Vanaheimian I have met." He put a hand over his heart and made a small bow. "Pleased to make your acquaintance. I am Loki, of Asgard."

"Loki" Cassie repeated, thoughts flying through her mind. "Exiled Prince of Asgard"

"The pleasure is all mine, Loki, Odinson" Cassie replied, offering her hand. "I am Cassie, of Vanaheim."

Loki's eyes narrowed, but he took her hand all the same. It felt strangely cold, and sent goosebumps along Cassie's arm. she was forced to pull away.

There was an awkward silence between the two. The rain continued to sprinkle them with silver drops of water.

"Ah." Loki leaned down and retrieved her umbrella. "I believe this belongs to you."

Cassie smiled, taking the umbrella from him. "I believe you are right." she took the umbrella and slung it over her shoulder. "So...where is your destination?"

Loki shrugged. "Nowhere, honestly. I have no idea where anything in this realm is, or how to obtain shelter and sustenance."

Cassie's eyes lit up. "Well, if you are hungry, I know a restaurant down the street from here. They serve pudding."

Loki's eyebrows arched again in that peculiar manner of his. "Pudding? I know not of this dish."

"You'll enjoy, it trust me." Cassie smiled, beginning to walk down and away from the Asgardian. "Follow me"

Loki, having no choice, complied.

1 month later

Cassie leaned on the balcony of her apartment, watching again as rain drowned the cityscape around her.

Behind her, Loki leaned in the doorway, watching her. "Bueatiful." he murmured, a smile inching across his face.

Cassie sighed. "It can be, I guess."

"I wasn't speaking of the rain, my dear."

Cassie turned to regard him, a pink blush spread across her face. "Ah, so that's what you meant."

Loki smiled broadly. "Indeed."

Cassie laughed, striding over to him. "You know, this past month has probably been the best month of my life, Loki." She placed her hands on his shoulder, and a chesire cat grin spread across the Asgardian's face. His hands came to circle her waist.

"I can concur. However, that was only due to the fact that you found me, Cassie." he leaned down and placed an ever so gentle kiss on her lips, leaning his forehead against hers. "And I want you to know, that I love you."

Cassie beamed up at him. "You realize how much those words mean to me, Loki?"

"Then say them back to me." he replied.

"Alright then." She took a dramatic breath. "I love you, my Prince."

"And I love you, My Lady of Vanaheim."
