Literature Text

It had been three days since you first woke up. In that time, you had rested, gotten stronger and healthier. You had not seen Loki since seeing him in the ICU. Truthfully, you didn't have much desire to see him either. You didn't want to ruin your memories by staring at his motionless form.

The other Avengers came to visit you frequently. Bruce was often on hand to get you something if you needed it. He and you had become close in these past few days. Clint and Natasha often came to visit as well. Clint even sometimes came by himself. One afternoon you had made a funny joke, and you had gotten the archer to smile.

Steve and Tony dropped in a few times, but both of them looked tired and stressed. You assumed that they both were busy with either Super-hero duty or other matters.

This afternoon Jane and Darcy had dropped in with your bride's maid's dress. You had tried it on in the small bathroom in your room. It was a lime green dress with a pale yellow sash. It came to about your shins, and had a lace overskirt. Everyone agreed unanimously that you looked stunning.

Now you stood against the window sill, leaning your head out the window to catch a breeze. Tomorrow was the wedding. Jane and Thor were off spending one last night together before the wedding day, since Thor wouldn't be able to see Jane all day until the ceremony.

A small breeze picked up a strand of your hair and blew it into your face. You gently tucked it behind your ear. It was calm out tonight. It was cold as usual. The Desert always grew to be freezing at night.

Just like that night...

You shook your head, trying to clear your thoughts. You had been doing that a lot recently. Reminiscing about the past. You tried not to, but sometimes it couldn't be helped.

So many things couldn't be helped...

"______?"

You turned around, your hair flying as you spun. Half of you expected it to be Loki, Half of you almost didn't want it to be.

"Hey, you alright, Kiddo?" Clint asked.

You nodded, rubbing your eyes a bit, trying to clear them of tears. "Sorry. I have something in my eye."

Clint smiled a bit, knowing you were lying. "You should be in bed." he said simply.

You pouted. "I'm not a child. Why does everyone feel the need to treat me like one?"

Clint chuckled a bit. "Because, I guess we all feel like we're compelled to take care of you." He patted your head, ruffling your hair a bit.

"Thanks...I guess." you smiled a bit.

"Now get some shut-eye. You're going to have a busy day tomorrow."

You nodded. "Yeah. Thank you Cliff." You climbed into your hospital bed and pulled the covers up.

Cliff stood by the door for a while, waiting until he believed you were fully asleep to come and sit in a nearby chair. He focused his eyes on the window and strung his bow and arrow. With Loki on the loose again, he took it upon himself to ensure that the demi-god would not corrupt you again. Clint didn't wish that on anyone.

You finished straightening the veil on Jane. She smiled at you from underneath the lace, happiness evident in her eyes.

It was the day of the wedding. You had tried to push your thoughts of Loki away and focus instead on Jane's happy day, but some thoughts remained.

"Are you ready?" You asked Jane, who nodded nervously.

There was a knock at the door. "Jane?" a familiar Thunder God called. He peeked in though a crack in the door, only to have it slammed on him.

"Don't make me get my tazer Thunder Hunk!" Darcy yelled from behind the door, locking it. "You know the rules!"

Thor sighed. "May I?" he begged.

"No!"

You laughed. "Sorry Thor. No seeing the bride until the ceremony!"

"Midgardian customs confuse me."

You could hear Tony pull Thor away from the door. As they walked down the hallway, Tony whispered to Thor: "I have a car with a half-tank of gas running out back. Tell me if you need to ditch."

Thor exclaimed indignantly, and the conversation faded.

Jane looked over gratefully at Darcy. "Thanks Darce."

Darcy leaned against the door and shrugged. "Hey, I'm the head bride's maid. It's my job."

"Hey! Stop stealing that's my job!" You yelled.

Darcy stuck her tongue out at you. "Whatever."

Another Knock sounded at the door this time. It was Selvig, here to escort Jane down the isle.

Jane stepped off the pedestal in front of her mirror, careful not to step on the skirt of her dress. It was long, straight gown that clung to her curves. Embroidery at the sleeveless top was a gift from Frigga. A lime green ribbon, Jane's favorite color, was tied around her waist. Her lacy veil came all the way down to her ankles, cascading down like water. Jane said it was her mother's. In short, Jane looked like a goddess.

"Jane, you're beautiful" you breathed.

You could see Jane's radiant smile from underneath her veil. "Let's go, _____."

You smiled and nodded.

Selvig escorted Jane out of the small building which had been used as a dressing room, and to the indoor gardens where Thor was.

Volstagg, Sif, Hogun, and Fandrall were waiting for you. Darcy approached Fandrall, but he sidepassed her. "I apologize my Lady, but I would prefer ________'s company today."

Darcy looked stunned. She indignantly grabbed Volstagg's arm and shot you a glance of ' You'll pay for this later.'

You gave Fandrall your brightest smile and took his arm. 'Thank you' You mouthed to him.

'You are welcome.' he mouthed back.

All six of you walked down the isle, having no need for flower girls. The cherry blossom trees in the garden were in full bloom, raining down petals every which way.

Everyone stood as Jane walked down the isle. You glanced quickly over to Thor, who's smile could have blinded someone if they stared straight into it.

You took Jane's bouquet as she took her place next to Thor.

The ceremony went quickly. Thor had to be prompted by Bruce to say 'I do' when it came to the vows.

"You may kiss the bride."

Everyone clapped as Thor followed the Reverend's advice and smooshed his lips against Jane's.

You laughed and cried at the same time, not knowing which to do.

You wished with all your heart is was you and Loki up there instead of Jane and Thor right now.

Thor scooped Jane up bridal-style (literally) and proudly walked back up the isle.

Bruce leaned over to Tony. "Do you think he knows that that comes later?"

Tony shrugged. "Ah, let them have their fun."

You watched as the crowd trickled out behind Thor and Jane. You felt so happy for the both of them. They had been waiting for this day for months. The bliss on thier faces was evident that you couldn't help but smile.

So why did your heart hurt so much?

I see a few errors in here. You said Cliff instead of Clint
