Afternoon sunlight filtered through the canopy of leaves above your head, casting dappled sunlight onto your sleepy face as you regarded the sky above you. A cool zephyr worked its way through your hair, tossing it gently in the breeze. You gave a content sigh and lay on your back, observing the changing sky. Puffy white clouds indicated fair weather in the azure expanse of blue above you, turning into different shapes.

"That one looks like a robin" You murmured aloud, observing a white bird begin to form in the sky, small and delicate. Its wings were folded, perched in the sky, simple watching, observing something you couldn't see with intelligent eyes.

Much like Armin, you suddenly though to yourself. Able to adapt well to all situations, hardy and competent, but small and gentle.

The thought brought a small smile to your lips. Armin had been your friend ever since the first day of trainee camp. Baby blue eyes always gazed up at you with hidden knowledge, something he couldn't voice, but already knew. The smile on his lips always brought a quiet grin to your own. His intelligent yet quiet demeanor had always attracted you.

Yet there were other things to consider.

The cloud had morphed again, this time growing bigger, and a bit darker. One feathery wing was spread out, and for all the world, you swear it resembled a grey raven.

You knew a certain corporal who fit that description. Dark feathery locks, dyed a jet black like the wings of a raven. Silent and dark, yet mysterious. It seemed to fit him nicely.

Ever since you had first met the corporal, you had fallen for him. Hard. Simple looks in your direction would set your cheeks aflame. You could hardly control yourself when you were finally inducted into his special operations squad. Since then, you two had grown closer, and though you learned more about the corporal, the man was always surrounded in mystery.

Yet his simple touch, correcting the hold of your blades, showing you how to rub a stain a certain way, or simply brushing past you always sent small butterflies fluttering in your stomach. More than that, you simply admired the man, and a great deal at that. His quiet way of caring for his soldiers, yet always maintaining discipline and moral inspired you to always try your best, at whatever you did.

Yet no matter how much you would dwell on the corporal, the blue eyes boy you had known since five years ago floated into your thoughts instead. The Robin always seemed to replace the Raven, in a way.

Armin had captured your heart long ago, but you couldn't help but be allured by the dark haired corporal.

"Oi."

You were rudely startled from your musings by a familiar, displeased voice. You shot up into a sitting position, bracing your arms behind you and searching for the corporal who had spoken to you just a moment ago.

"Over here." Your eyes banked left, and you came into contact with Rivaille, who was sitting beside your form. When did he get here?!

"You looked like you were sleeping. I didn't want to disturb you."

You gave your corporal a queer glance. "Mission failed, then." You remarked.

The raven gave a small smile, the slightest smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "It's getting late." He spoke after a moment of silence.

You nodded, hugging your knees and gazing up at the sky, which was slowly fading into the colors of a sunset.

"We should be heading back soon." He spoke, standing easily.

You nodded, glancing down at the grass underneath your boots. A hand intercepted your vision, and you looked up to find the corporal offering you assistance standing. You glanced up at his face, and for some reason, you pictured a certain blonde instead, his innocent smile beaming back at you.

You smiled sadly and took hold of the hand, allowing yourself to be hauled to your feet easily.

"Come on." Rivaille told you, giving a jerk on his head back towards base.

You nodded, following him, as you always promised to.

Your allegiance belonged to the Raven, but your heart belonged to the Robin.
:iconmegurun: requested this. I honestly had a hard time thinking of an idea for this, but I suppose it came out alright. :>
I liked this idea of Robin and raven, and I think its fits these two characters really well.

Hope you like it, love!
