"No thank you."
The reply startled Alois, having expected a simple positive reply to his invitation to dance. He was used to getting what he wanted, and this was no exception.
It seemed all the young ladies at the ball were eager to dance with Alois, eager to show themselves off to the young Trancy heir. None of them had interested him. Too flashy, too showy, too ugly, too subtle, but most of all, too boring. None of them sparked his interest at all.
Then, there was you.
He had spotted you across the ballroom in a quick glance, and had to stop and look again. There was something about you, the way you leaned on one of the pillars, a fan held up to your face, obscuring your visage. Maybe it was the way you were turned, so that Alois could see the nape of your neck, or the way the sleeves of your dress fell off your shoulders, exposing soft skin that he could practically feel under his fingers. No, more than that, it was the color of your eyes, the dull shine of (e/c) orbs that gazed with apathy at the dancers on the floor.
He found himself crossing the room without thinking, the heels of his shoes clicking on the marble floor, drowned out by the sound of the music. You looked up as he approached you, interest sparking in those beautiful eyes. Alois felt his heart flutter. Nonetheless he maintained his composure and leaned on the column, blocking your view of the dancers.
"Dance with me" he practically purred, his eyes lighting up with amusement at your slightly flustered reaction. You managed to compose yourself and hid your face behind your face, brow scrunching in frustration.
"No."
It took a moment for Alois to process the response. he choked and tried again.
"I beg your pardon?"
You glanced sideways at him over your fan. "You have it, reluctantly, however."
Alois bristled. How dare this girl talk to him in this way?
"I'm sorry." he chuckled darkly. "But do you know who I am?"
You turned away from him, folding your fan into your gloved hand. "A boy in need of some proper manners." you retorted calmly.
"Why you little-!"
"-Manners." You reminded him calmly, peering at him over your fan.
Normally, Alois would have lost himself there, but now, he plastered on a polite smile and tried again.
"Pardon me, Miss." He choked out. "But would you care for a dance?"
You regarded him for a moment, (e/c) orbs staring into his own.
"No." You quipped.
"What do you mean, 'No'?!"
"I mean exactly what I said." You responded. "and if you have nothing else to say to me, I shall be leaving."
With that she spun on her heel and sauntered away, leaving the young Trancy gazing after her, jaw agape.
"Master." A low voice sounded beside him. Alois look up to his butler with disbelief. "Did you see that, Claude? She refused me! She outright refused me!!"
The Butler couldn't help but let a small smirk escape onto his lips. "I believe the term is 'playing hard to get', your highness."
"Well she's damn well succeeding." Alois growled out. "What a preposterous, obstinate little-"
"It is possible to win her over." Claude interrupted.
Alois gazed up at him despairingly. "How~?" he whined.
"I'm afraid, master, that is something you shall have to figure out for yourself."
With that, Claude vanished back into the crowd.
Alois peered his eyes after your figure, as you chuckled airily at a joke made by Lady Elizabeth.
A dark, queer smile appeared on the Trancy heir's lips. He gazed after your form, his eyes sparkling with hidden mischief. The vow escaped his lips without a second thought, a dark chuckle tinting his words.
" I will make you mine."

You entered the bedroom and found it empty. You
